Martha Berry writes to Mrs. Wright about the trip that she had taken from Miami to Rome and that her mother is getting along just fine and that she enjoyed having Miss Beverly with her. She also asks Mrs. Wright to let her know about the pour stone so she can tell the Skinners. Miss Berry says that her mother is thinking about going to Mentone this summer even though Miss Beverly advises she go nowhere without a good nurse. Miss Berry also states that John Ledbetter of Cloudland died the night before. She says she feels she needs to go on a trip in the interest of the schools to work on replacing the burned dormitories.
Berry writes to Merle Woodward thanking her for the gift of $5.00 but saying that she thinks Merle should keep it because she needs it more than Berry does. Berry assures Merle that her gift will still bring Berry blessings because it was a sacrificial gift. Berry also expresses her desire to see Merle soon, saying that Mama and Aunt Martha speak of her often.
